Emergency Care
The Emergency Care Group encompasses many settings: primary care, accident and emergency, medical admissions units, surgical admissions units, clinical decisions units, ambulance services, minor injury units. The Red Cross, NHS Direct and the Territorial Army, to name a few. The following areas are just some that the group hopes to bring best practice together: immediate assessment, stabilisation and care, appropriate admissions - and pharmacy’s role in preventing inappropriate admissions, medicines management in the emergency and urgent situation, working at the interface, rapid response teams and ambulatory care.
The Group intends to:
- Provide education and training events
- Share clinical experience, evidence and debate
- Encourage and support practice research
- Monitor and maintain standards of practice
- Provide clinical expertise to new and existing pharmacists and technicians working in emergency care
