Pain Management
Pain is a common symptom in both primary and secondary care and the majority of pharmacists will encounter patients experiencing pain on a daily basis. The Pain Management Group aims to provide a forum for pharmacists to be better placed to interact with any patient in pain, whether it is acute postsurgical pain, chronic non-cancer pain or pain in terminal illness.
The group intends to:-
- Promote the pharmacist as a member of the multidisciplinary team caring for patients with pain
- Facilitate education and training for pharmacists involved in caring for patients with pain
- Work with other UKCPA groups where pain may be an issue (e.g. diabetic neuropathy)
- Share clinical experience, evidence and best practice
- Support innovation and developing the role of the pharmacist in pain management
- Welcome all pharmacists from secondary care, primary care, industry and academia
